Taste of Durham Festival this weekend

The Taste of Durham Festival will be at the Imperial Center in Durham this Saturday, May 24, from 11am to 7pm. There will be live music, wine and beer tasting, triangle chef demonstrations, and area food sampling.

There are some familiar names on the food sampling list including the Melting Pot, Taverna Nikos, and George’s Garage, and some not-so-familiar names including the Weeping Radish Farm Brewery from Jarvisburg, NC (huh?).

Tickets are $4 in advance or $6 at the gate. Tots 12 and under are free. For $4, this is a pretty cheap way to try some otherwise pricey food.

  1. cool…i’ve got a visiting parent to entertain this weekend…lol

so, it looks like admission…plus any number of these coins to cover food and drinks at any given table…1-5 coins for food at each table, and 2-6 coins for beer/wine samples at each table…2 coins for “commemorative glass”

so, you likely come out of there still dropping $20 per person, give or take…but you do sample places…hmmm

  2. Weeping Radish used to have a Durham location – round about the Studebaker building on N. Duke St. The did some brewing and had a restaurant as well. German cuisine, I think.

  3. Right – you pay $4 to get in and then you buy coins for $1 each to buy food or for the wine/beer tastings.
Weeping Radish was indeed at the Studebaker building. I think they only have one location now since the bier garten in Manteo closed. And yes, definitely a German focus. I remember liking the dark lager (Black Radish, I think) quite a bit.

  4. TOD is an underwhelming experience.

  5. ToD will be in the same location as animazement. There may be eye candy to go with your food.
